We’ve all been there. We look at our phone and have thousands and thousands of family photos stored away somewhere on the “cloud”. All our favorite family moments, memories, and even some paid professional images that you love get buried and forgotten. Life gets busy and somehow we decide that we will create that family album tomorrow, or get those images printed soon. What ends up happening? Those precious pictures get buried, forgotten, and unused.
That’s a sad ending isn’t it? It has happened to myself way to many times and that is why, as a portrait photographer, I have decided this cycle must end. Clients of mine expect to be taken care of every step of the way at their session, and the service doesn’t stop once I put my camera down. Part of the experience at Emily Shafer Photography is creating your family heirlooms. These are the products that will be passed down for generations to come and not stored away among the thousands of pictures on your phone you hardly look at. Each client walks away with their images professionally printed and matted with every package offered, that’s standard. Sometimes people want something a little extra, and that is the perfect time to consider purchasing an album or beautiful wall art for your home. Today let’s talk about albums!
Why should I order my albums through my photographer?
-
Allow your photographer to serve you.
Life get’s so hectic! I touched on this in the paragraph above because it’s such a big part of the problem. Once you receive your images in a digital format, it is so tempting to leave them on your phone/Ipad/computer. Mothers especially have a full schedule, and it gets hard to dedicate the time to sit down, upload images, design 10-15 pages, and create something that is esthetically pleasing. Allow your photographer to take care of you for a change. Could you imagine telling them you want an album and in 1-2 weeks receiving this perfect heirloom full of images you love? Sometimes it’s nice to be spoiled. . .

Designing can be frustrating
If you have decided to commit the time to creating an album the next struggle you’ll have is crating a flow to your book. Using a photographer who deals with images all day every day will help you create an album with design elements that compliment the images. Sometimes clients feel overwhelmed when deciding what images work and don’t work. I deal with these decisions every day, and using someone who has a trained eye can really benefit the end result.

We got the goods!
This is a little expected, I know, but it must be said. My studio has invested in the software that makes it faster to design an album, provides the ability to preview it, and ensures the proper color correction is applied to your pictures. If your family/wedding/portrait album doesn’t come back perfect, you better believe that it will be taken care of. It removes all the stress out of it for you!

It’s Fun
I take care of all the dirty work, deciding what images compliment one another, how to crop this, color correcting, etc. My clients get to focus on their favorite pictures, what should the title say, what texture should the cover be and in which color. Those are the fun choices that I leave to my clients. Plus they can see a sample of each fabric choice at my studio in Charleston, WV. You get a personalized album, perfected by a professional who wants their clients to be 100% happy.
So those are only a few of the reasons you should consider utilizing your photographer for your next album purchase. You work hard enough already and printing pictures/creating albums shouldn’t be something that stresses you out. Treat yourself to something that will last, and start enjoying your photographs!
